As in TSO, if you do not want the standard prefix added to a data set name specified in most TSO command lines, you use single quotes around the data set name.

ALLOCATE FILE(SYSLIB) SHR DATASET('SYS1.MACLIB')

For consistency you can use this method with batch IDCAMS commands.

DEFINE CLUSTER(NAME('SYS1.MACLIB') ...

Let me try that, what I had read, maybe I misread, stated that you could not use quotes on the allocate. I'll get back, thanks.

That worked! Thank, Steve.

Like I said, I could swear I read somewhere that you can't use quotes in IDCAMS, obviously I was wrong.

Actually, I have a similar problem; I don't know where it says you can use quotes for a data set name or something similar.

I am guided in this by two thoughts.

When IDCAMS was originally defined, its command syntax seemed to be guided by TSO command syntax.

At some point – I really don't know when -- many IDCAMS commands were made TSO line mode commands. In fact, they replaced some TSO commands, like DELETE and LISTCAT. I do know when IDCAMS commands are invoked as a TSO command the syntax error messages appear to be messages from IKJPARS, the TSO service used to process command lines, rather than whatever IDCAMS function that processes its command lines.

Hi,
Could you please let me know where to find the default options for FTP server.

For example, If we dont specifiy a record length of a file being sent, FTP automatically choose a LRECL and RECFM. Also the default line separators like LF or CRLF or NL. Where can we find the default values.

Thanks,
Vasanth.S

Look at SYS1.TCPPARMS (or whatever it is called on your system). There is usually one or two members related to FTP in the data set (out of what can be quite a few members). Member FTPSDATA of SEZAINST is the server data configuration source while member FTCDATA of SEZAINST is the client data configuration source.

Start by looking at your TCPIP started task to see which configuration members are used. Something important to be aware of from https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSLTBW_2.2.0/com.ibm.zos.v2r2.halz001/ftpconfigstatementsinftpdata.htm :
Quote:
FTP configuration statements in FTP.DATA

The FTP.DATA configuration data set is optional. The FTP daemon searches for this data set during initialization.

The FTP server search order is:

A data set specified by the //SYSFTPD DD statement
ftpserve_job_name.FTP.DATA
/etc/ftp.data
SYS1.TCPPARMS(FTPDATA)
hlq.FTP.DATA data set

As shown in Table 1, the FTP client uses one of the following search orders to obtain the local site parameter values:
Table 1. FTP client search orders
TSO shell

-f
SYSFTPD DD statement
tso_prefix.FTP.DATA
userid.FTP.DATA
/etc/ftp.data
SYS1.TCPPARMS(FTPDATA) data set
tcpip_hlq.FTP.DATA file

UNIX System Services shell

-f
$HOME/ftp.data
userid.FTP.DATA
/etc/ftp.data
SYS1.TCPPARMS(FTPDATA) data set
tcpip_hlq.FTP.DATA file

Posted: Fri Aug 25, 2017 9:25 pm (GMT 5.5)

Hi Team,

I need to pull up sales for the last 2 days(includes current date) until last hour (current date) . This extract query job will be scheduled to run every 10th minute of an hour . There is also a need to ensure if it runs on 12:10 AM it should pick up sales- previous day 23rd hour sales correctly .

I come up with the below SQL Query BUT with a need to handle for the last hour of current date.
Code:

SELECT DEPT_NBR, SALES_AMT,SALES_DATE,SALES_HR_NBR
FROM DEPT_SALES TABLE
WHERE DEPT = 100
AND  SALES_DATE BETWEEN  (CURRENT DATE - 2 DAYS) AND CURRENT DATE
AND SALES_HR_NBR BETWEEN 0 AND 23
AND SALES_HR_NBR <= HOUR(CURRENT TIME - 1 HOUR)
ORDER BY SALES_DATE,SALES_HR_NBR
WITH UR

In above Query,i need to handle the condition of SALES_HR_NBR only when SALES_DATE equals to current date and not for prev days. I have written a cobol code to handle/limit the hour sales by remove the condition of SALES_HR_NBR . I request to know if this can handles in Extract SQL Query itself and also to take care on 0th hour . Request your assistance/help on handling this condition.

Thanks
Balaji

IBM Tools :: SMF LogStream

I am not quite sure this is the correct forum, but since I found a few posts about SMF here, I am posting this one.

I am reading the redbook "SMF Logstream Mode" (SG24-7919).
I am still at the beginning of it, so I do not knnow, yet, if there is some explicit text on it to comfirm (or deny) what follows, deducted from what was already read.

Quote:
If if an "user" (TSO user, application, etc) needs data that is in a SMF logstream, he/she/it could use the same interface (eg, IFASMDL), in spite of where the data is (CF structure, dataspace, DASD or tape).
For example, if I need data recorded just one minute ago, that still is in the CF structure, or need data from one year ago, that is in tape, I could use exactly the same interface code to access any one of them in a SMF logstream.

Please, is the above assumption correct?

Thanks, Ricardo

I thought I understood EXCP pretty well, but this channel program is failing and I can't figure out what's going on.

The IOB is -
Code:
000178 42000000000002E8             120 IOB      DC    0XL40'0',AL1(X'42',0,0,0),A(ECB,0,0,CCWS,EXCP,0,0)
000198 0000000000000000             121 IOBSEEK  DC    XL8'0'

The channel program is -
Code:
0001A0 3100019B40000005             122 CCWS     CCW   X'31',IOBSEEK+3,X'40',5  SEARCH ID EQUAL
0001A8 080001A000000000             123          CCW   X'08',CCWS,0,0
0001B0 E90001C840000008             124          CCW   X'69'+X'80',KEY,X'40',8  SEARCH KEY HIGH EQUAL         ->
                                                                                 MULTI-TRACK
0001B8 080001B000000000             125          CCW   X'08',*-8,0,0
0001C0 060001E000000100             126          CCW   X'06',DIRBLOCK,0,L'DIRBLOCK  READ DATA

IOBSEEK does point to the first track of the data set. The R area is 0. IOBSEEK is filled in by using the CVTPCNVT routine with TTRN = X'00000000' rather than filling it in from DEB. This is all stuff I've done before.

The CSW in the IOB points to the TIC after the search key high-equal CCW.

The contents of KEY are CL8'ADDSTATS'

The contents of the actual key for the first record in the data set is BACKPDS.

The first byte of the ECB is X'41'.

I expect the search to end with first record and the contents of the first record to be read into storage.

As far as I can tell the CCW op codes are all correct.

Subject: Join records from 2 files with No Duplicates using DFSORT
Posted: Sun Aug 27, 2017 10:35 pm (GMT 5.5)

Hi!
This is my first post in the forum. I am working on a SORT card in which i am reading records from 2 input files and joining them on a 15 byte key. But the issue is, in both the files few records have duplicate key. So due to these duplicate keys it is creating cartesian product of records in output file. My requirement is to write one to one matching record. I am using DFSORT and for this i have searched in the forum that SORTED,NOSEQCK should be used to accomplish my requirement. But even after using this option in my SORT i am not getting the expected output. I can really use some help here as i need to deliver this tomorrow. Please let me know what i am missing here. Many Thanks !
